St. Charles, IL – December 2025 – The St. Charles, IL plant of Microplastics has recently been acquired by a Grand Rapids-based division of German firm MATEtronix GmbH & Co.

Founded in 1989, Microplastics serves customers in the automotive, construction, and food service industries. Its capabilities include injection molding, insert molding, mechatronics, stamping, and prototyping.

The St. Charles facility operates a fully equipped tool room capable of supporting mold maintenance, engineering changes, and tooling correction loops.

The acquisition marks MATEtronix’s first production facility in North America and completes the company’s “global footprint” strategy, said Robert Koziel, CEO of MATEtronix GmbH & Co. KG.

The St. Charles site now becomes part of MATEtronix’s global network, which serves customers in automotive, industrial electronics, commercial goods, cosmetics, and health and beauty sectors.

MATEtronix specializes in hybrid plastic/metal parts, precision injection molding, and mechatronic assemblies. Before the acquisition, the company operated manufacturing sites in Germany, the Czech Republic, and China.
