January 2022 – Santa Ana, CA – In a recent transaction, Newport Plastics of Santa Ana, CA acquired the assets of custom injection molder Con-Tech Plastics of Brea, CA.

Con-Tech Plastics was founded by Dave Crawford and Dan O’Neal in 1984. Later, it was purchased by Ralph Riehl and Vern Meurer, who together ran the company until present day.

Con-Tech is a full-service contract manufacturer based in Orange County California that specializes in precision thermoplastic injection molding.

Newport Plastics was founded in 1971 by Bruce Hale. The company was purchased by Brand Caso in 2008. The company currently remains under Caso’s leadership. Newport Plastics is a fully equipped mold making shop with the ability to design, develop, and build prototype and production tooling.

With the addition of Con-Tech to the already growing Newport brand, production capacity will increase immediately by 50% while doubling cleanroom square footage. Combined injection press tonnage will range from 60-500. Both companies have complementary customer requirements and a strong Southern California presence.

“We’ve combined the best of two great companies. Our customers will realize benefits from this combination and that will lead to continued success.” said Brand Caso, Director at Newport Plastics.

Immediate synergies include Newport’s in-house mold making capabilities and experience with FDA and CE qualified medical devices.

Plastics-focused investment banking firm MBS Advisors of Florence, MA represented Con-Tech in the transaction.
