April 2022 – Elgin, IL – Materials veteran and CEO of Sigma Investment Partners LLC, Andy Ubhi, has acquired a majority stake in Poly Compounding LLC, a toll compounder in Elgin, IL.

Poly Compounding specializes in highly engineered compounds and processes, especially for heat and shear-sensitive applications. The firm, founded in 2001 by John Wolfe and Scott Crosby, employs 20 at a 25,000-square-foot location.

Ubhi owns color concentrates maker Peacock Colors Inc. of Addison, IL, which he acquired in 2018, and Vortex Liquid Color Inc. of Sheboygan, WI, which he added in 2020. Poly Compounding is located about 30 miles from Peacock Colors. Both companies work with brand owners, OEMs, and innovative molders to create color & materials solutions for polymer applications. Ubhi’s plans for Poly Compounding are to accelerate the growth of the company as a specialized toll compounder by providing capital, sales management, and human resources. John Wolfe and Scott Crosby will continue in their current roles of President and Vice-President.

In a news release, Ubhi said, “I am very excited to partner with John and Scott. I’ve known them for many years as experts in the field of toll compounding and I will support and add value to their business plan for Poly Compounding.”

Plastics-focused investment banking firm MBS Advisors of Florence, MA represented Poly Compounding in the transaction.
