Portland, TN – October 2025 – Captive injection molder formerly known as Western Plastics has been acquired by Engineered Plastics Components, Inc. (EPC) of West Des Moines, IA.
Western Plastics was a dedicated molded parts supplier to Kirby Co. and manufactured parts and accessories for Kirby vacuum cleaners. The deal included all of Western Plastics’ real estate and equipment, as well as a long-term contract to supply products to Kirby.
“Our plan was not only to service Kirby going forward, but also to serve other customers — Tier 1s and OEMs,” Reza Kargarzadeh, president and CEO of EPC said. “This is working well for us.”
EPC plans to double the size of the Tennessee facility, adding 60,000 square feet in 2026 along with new molding machines up to 2,000 tons in clamping force.
EPC now operates 21 facilities across the country, following acquisitions in Michigan, Iowa, Georgia, Ohio and most recently, Tennessee.
Plastics-focused investment banking firm MBS Advisors of Florence, MA represented Western Plastics/Kirby Co. in the transaction.
